Sometimes when life throws us a curve, we automatically react in ways that are stressful. Consider this instead: next time you receive what appears to be bad news, pause and take a deep breath. Before you rush into the “run-away” train of negative thought and panic, decide to wait 3 days to react. During these days, look for the good in the events that have taken place. If at the end of 3 days you haven’t found any good in the situation, feel free to panic.
Go ahead. Mark it on the calendar. I’ll bet by the end of 3 days, you’ll have found a few good things about the situation. By deciding to wait before we panic, we then gain better control of our emotions. We realize that how we react to a situation is a choice. The events of our lives no longer control us. It no longer feels like life is happening to us; instead, we see it is happening with us. In fact, everything that we experience is here to serve us. Start looking for the good in difficult situations today. You’ll be amazed at what you will find.
